WonkyZebra 171 JimJumMeg Toys 196

WonkyZebra 171 JimJumMeg Toys 196

Jim, Jum and Meg, 3 very vintage knitted toys to choose from :-

–choose 1 for $2 (please say which you have chosen in ‘message to seller’)
or contact WonkyZebra if you would like all 3 for $5 so he can make a listing for you..

“Jim”
A very vintage, very sweet, little knitted toy horse.
A simple and easy to knit, classic toy to make for someone special; so nostalgic!

“Jum”
A very vintage and really traditional little toy elephant to knit (with crochet discs as feet – but I have added knitted instructions as well).
A simple and easy to knit, toy to make for a nursery; or anyone who likes elephants!

“Meg”
A knitted, very vintage, toy bunny, with lots of personality.
Very evocative of times past; bunnies were the prime cuddle before teddies “arrived”.
( This one would be great for Victorian and WW2 re-enacting ).

A simple and easy to knit, toy to make for someone special; so nostalgic!

Please note that this PDF image is also scanned exactly as it is, ie in original (I think charming) vintage condition, showing that it is slightly yellowed and a bit creased. It is completely legible but WZ is happy to “digitally brighten it up” if you prefer higher contrast, once you have seen it. All three toys are knitted with “Lystwist”. It is referred to in the text as “cotton”- but seems to have been a rayon mix perle type crochet yarn, [from modern images I have seen]. However, there is no reason not to use any other type of yarn, provided you keep a firm tension. The needles are given as size 12 which would be about right for this yarn- but no tension or finished size is given- although some dimensions are mentioned, here and there.

Use a size smaller needles than recommended for the yarn you choose, and maintain an even, tight tension so that filling does not show.

WonkyZebra 174 Vogue Boho Wedding Dress

WonkyZebra 174 Vogue Boho Wedding Dress

Absolutely stunning crocheted wedding dress.

Iconic Vogue designer wedding dress from the seventies.

This beautiful dress won’t take long to make, as it is in a soft yarn, with a very open structure. It does say, may need “make a lining slip if required”, but I would have said, looking at it, that this is essential.

The only reason I can see, not to have a lining, is , if you are absolutely desperate to get him up the aisle.. LOL

WonkyZebra 175 StitchCraft Wedding and Brides maids Dresses

WonkyZebra 175 StitchCraft Wedding and Brides maids Dresses

A beautiful romantic dress- for girls of all ages.

Elegantly simple but still fresh and innocent looking this would make a lovely dress for any summer event, not just a wedding, and great in a short length too. There is a stunning back button detail too, for that important back view, if it is for a wedding dress!

It is straightforward to make, despite looking very lacy, and so should be quite quick to finish.
The little Juliette cap is a sweet idea too.

WonkyZebra 176 Crochet PantSuit 2278

WonkyZebra 176 Crochet PantSuit 2278

A stunning crochet lace pantsuit with a short (hip tip or crop length), front buttoned, jacket.
The jacket would make a nice top just on its own; especially the cropped one over jeans or shorts.

It has an unusual lace stitch pattern –( see close up),which gives a reasonably dense cover, although you can see her panties. LOL

Just the thing to update the tradition gossip with a neighbor over the garden wall (although this wall looks a bit like one round a cemetery I used to drive past LOL).

I have included the magazine cover and original print complete with adverts

Use it for jazzing up plain garments as shown – or maybe over a bikini….

WonkyZebra 180 Textured Bikini KC9255

WonkyZebra 180 Textured Bikini KC9255

A crochet bikini for textured yarn- and just in case you don’t get it made in time; a nice hat and scarf( or belt) to knit instead!

An enterprising concept in yarn promotion – address both ends of the market, and both techniques AT THE SAME TIME! This pattern was definitely aimed at selling to those of us that are “yarn led”! The yarn had quite a strong texture, so both items are simply constructed.

Good patterns for a stash bust!

Bikini is given as using a 4ply equivalent yarn; approx 120 grms in 2 colours ( you have to look closely to see them in their example – there is a border around the edges).
Hat and scarf/belt as less than 100grms –

Bikini is for size
bust 34/36inch (86/91cms)
hip 36/38inch (91/97cms)
scarf/belt 54 inches long
hat “average”

About WonkyZebra

WonkyZebra and I have collected tons of patterns over the years. Before this was fashionable and the whole “vintage” thing happened, it was just considered to be a funny sort of hoarding; a bit “anorak” to use one of the slightly mocking terms us English specialise in. Now it is a wonderful source of lost treasure in the online textile universe; who would have guessed! It was quite a relief to find there are many others “out there” who appreciate a good pattern-and maybe even enjoy using them! I think it is a good thing anyone can get access to the designs instead of just those lucky enough to find them in gran’s workbox or charity shops. So, here we are with all our hoard, trying to make it all available as fast as we can…hooves don’t help much so it is down to me. I squeeze it in between actual crocheting, knitting, life, and other sundries. Vintage patterns; PDFs for sale at http://wonkyzebra.etsy.com
