WonkyZebra 263 Reindeer Motif Sweater FK73

WonkyZebra 263 Reindeer Motif Sweater FK73

Sweater Pattern Vintage KnittedA knitting pattern for a great retro look – winter set; for winter, skiing, Christmas.. you get the picture.

There is a sweater, mittens and a hat with a Pompom.

They feature a frisky reindeer gambolling across.. a starry yellow background (yellow? Did someone get their three wise men across the desert story mixed up with the whole Christmas reindeer thing?)

This would look even better (and even more kitsch) in traditional Christmas colours.

The reindeer motif is quite different to most I have seen, and would translate very well to cross-stitch etc. It is not quite in profile and there is the perfect place for a little white tail to go.

See last picture for measurements and yarn etc.

 WonkyZebra 264 MonTricotNativity main picture

WonkyZebra 264 MonTricotNativity

Crochet Nativity Set Amigurumi Dolls Toys People PDFA delightful crochet pattern for a retro Nativity set from the 1970s.

Even just the central three figures would make a charming Christmas display or gift.

This pattern contains instructions for making all the little pictures in the pictures, including the animals and the star.
The pattern comes from a French magazine, translated into English, and contains lots more characters than the usual ones of Virgin Mary, St Joseph, baby Jesus, angels, wise men and shepherds. There are also men and women of varying occupations such as a flower seller, knife grinder, miller, etc with all their props. I presume these are from French folk law as I haven’t heard of these in English versions of the nativity story. However, the “cast of thousands” that you could produce from the variations would be great fun.

If you made this for a church or school display, you could use the instructions to add in characters from your own group of teachers or congregation.

The crochet is not difficult, and the patterns are written in a straightforward style with full instructions and templates for any extra bits such as wings, and how to reinforce the cove bodies with card.

If you prefer knitting in the round you could work them like that too.

Make a special pair for the Christmas season with reindeers; or anytime with the traditional patterns, or a DARLING little bird.(The bird is described as a chick- but would look cute as a Christmas robin!)

This is a nice old fashioned technical pattern-written line by line, so easy to follow; but, PLEASE NOTE, with NO CHARTS. (Although you could easily draw them up from the instructions).

sizes from 2-10 years

 WonkyZebra 266 Window Filigree GH6

WonkyZebra 266 Window Filigree GH6

A crochet pattern for a beautiful delicate window decoration hanging made in filigree crochet with fine cotton. (in a similar way for making table mats or doilies.)This would make a lovely, elegant Christmas decoration, either hanging in a window or on a tree or mantle piece.

It is finished on to a wire lampshade hoop but there are many ways you could improvise this. It could also be just stiffened with sugar or glue solution, in which case you could dispense with the outer wire ring.

An excellent way to display your crocheting skills and could be a great gift for that person who has everything!

Pattern comes in a large print version for easy reading, as well as a quick print version, for portability.

About WonkyZebra

WonkyZebra and I have collected tons of patterns over the years. Before this was fashionable and the whole “vintage” thing happened, it was just considered to be a funny sort of hoarding; a bit “anorak” to use one of the slightly mocking terms us English specialise in. Now it is a wonderful source of lost treasure in the online textile universe; who would have guessed! It was quite a relief to find there are many others “out there” who appreciate a good pattern-and maybe even enjoy using them! I think it is a good thing anyone can get access to the designs instead of just those lucky enough to find them in gran’s workbox or charity shops. So, here we are with all our hoard, trying to make it all available as fast as we can…hooves don’t help much so it is down to me. I squeeze it in between actual crocheting, knitting, life, and other sundries. Vintage patterns; PDFs for sale at http://wonkyzebra.etsy.com
